The first half of Dune was worth reading. The second half is pretty much an acid trip.

Dune was ok for me when I was a teen. Then, when I got to read more about the Bene Gesserit sisterhood I quickly lost any desire to keep buying more Dune books.

I don't recognize the books at all, but I do know that version of Dune - the Sci-Fi channel produced those a while back. Very good rendition of the book, though of course has flaws like any other. Hard to put it up against the new films ).

When I first learned proofreading skills, I was told to buy books like these and practice on them. “Really? They’re professionally edited books.” “Trust me.” Sure enough, I found typos.

Klaatu is farther back than Bruce Campbell. He was himself paying homage to the 1951 move The Day the Earth Stood Still, with the robot character Klaatu in it. The words to intone are there as well: “Klaatu barada nikto” Those were instructions to the robot.

I learned something new! Thank you for sharing Nick. You're so smart. Now I'm going to look up this robot dude. Klatu in my book is the prince of Seraphim.....sort of.

Great finds, Nova! Those 4 murder mystery/sci-fi novels were a steal for being as old as they are. Those are definitely classics. And great reading if you ever want to do your own murder mystery. Again, awesome finds and thanks for sharing.

Have you heard of these books before? Today was payday so I went on a 20$ spree! Now I'm broke all my money is for bills and food. I wanted to buy more books.

I heard of a few of those kinds of books. I haven’t been fortunate enough to find them when I visit my local antique/thrift shops—-believe me I’ve looked when I always walk by near the library, a few blocks away. I’ve checked out the library resale shop in the next town over as well. Hard to find around here. Those are for the bigger cities I imagine. But those books are the one’s the big name authors - the older ones, probably read when they were growing up. Buying more books is a true side effect of being a writer.

I only bought 4 there's at least 30 or more sitting there. I just bought all the ones with the chick's on the cover cause I thought that was risque and cool for the time

Awesome. The chicks on the cover were true works of art. They don’t make covers like that anymore. It’s all computer-generated. Great eye in finding them. I’m glad you got those. Those will be way worth more than $3 someday.
