My Christmas Tree
Dear Fellow Adventurers,
Here is my Christmas Tree. It is hard to tell by the photo, but there are blue and silver baubles on the tree. The tree is fully adorned in cartoon characters, because to me, Christmas is about childhood.
When most of us believed in magic.
You can see Oliver’s stocking hung on my vintage 1910 Singer Sewing machine. I paid $30 for that antique, from a reclaimed furniture store. In fact, my home has many antiques and thrifted items. It is amazing what you can buy with very little money.
Below you will see a selection of closeups of some of the ornaments on my tree. These are mostly licensed characters, which are pricey. What I do is every year, after Christmas I grab new ornaments for 75% off. Other ones I find thrifting. The beautiful reindeer in the second set of photos was in a 2 pack for $5. They are Hallmark and retailed for about $30. I got another one (not shown) of mice in a golf bag for only $1.

This ornament is so very true. ⬇️
I have many of these smores characters, but was unable to put them all on the tree as I had run out of space. A bit of a sad story, when living in my previous place I had a beautiful 7ft fake green tree. I stored it in the shed and during the summer, someone stole it. Who does that? Who steals someone’s Christmas tree?
Well, I did not have a lot of money to replace it. So I got this skinny white tree for $30 on a clearance blow-out, and I have used it ever since. It works out because my home is small, so the size is perfect. However, I have enough ornaments for a much larger, fuller tree. So, I alternate between the years, to what goes on the tree this year to next. Perhaps one day, if I am lucky to get a house, I will get a big tree, and be able to proudly display all my ornaments again.
Here is a photo of me, decorating my grandmothers real tree, with silken baubles. She is gone now, as are all my grandparents. I will always carry fond memories of Christmas with them.
Christmas really is about spending time with family, especially while they are here. I work in a retail environment where everyone rushes around, stressed, with their arms full of bags. Trying to get the right gift, the best gift, and while gifts are nice, they are just tokens. I think we all know that, but sometimes we get caught up in the stuff, and forget Christmas is about being with the ones you love.
“It came without ribbons! It came without tags! It came without packages, boxes or bags.” -The Grinch
(my fav Christmas movie btw, watch it ever Christmas eve)
My favorite tradition is stockings. Even as an adult. I even make little stockings for my parents, and they send me one too. (as we are not in the same city, and mail each other gifts) They are usually filled with treats, little novelty toys, and some personal care items. I do not think I will ever stop doing stockings.
Do any of you do stockings?
I hope you all enjoyed my tree. Wishing all my Fellow Adventurers a very Happy Christmas and Good Health for the New Year!
